SOLDIERING ON AWARDS

Soldiering On Awards 2016

Vicki has been a supporter of the Soldiering On Through Life Trust since it’s formation in 2011. To that end she has attended a number of the Soldiering On Awards ceremonies. In 2016 Vicki was proud to be asked to co-host the awards along with presenter Jeremy Vine. These annual awards reflect the ethos of the Trust by encouraging support for the UK’s Armed Forces Community, which is accomplished by nationally recognizing and rewarding the achievements of groups, individuals and organizations that support this community.

The event was staged at the Park Plaza Hotel, Westminster Bridge in London on the 22nd of April, beginning with a Taittinger Champagne and canapés reception followed by a three course dinner, while, entertainment was provided by The Spinettes and Crazy Jain. The Awards were heralded by toastmaster ‘Pav’ aka Alexander Michaels and the Pipes and Drums of the Scots Guards. A silent auction and raffle were in operation to help boost fundraising.

There were 13 categories of awards at this year’s event;

Family Values, Training and Rehabilitation, Sporting Excellence, Inspiration Award, Working Together Individual, Working Together Group, International Award, Innovation Award, Canine Partner, Sunday Express People’s Choice, Lifetime Achievement, Trustees Award and Outstanding Contribution.

The official part of the evening was brought to a close with an address from the charity’s Chairman and Co-founder member, Wing Commander Tal Lambert MBE and the customary singing of We’ll Meet Again.

The Soldiering On Awards 2017

The 2017 Soldiering On Awards took place once again at the Park Plaza Hotel, Westminster Bridge. This time Vicki was invited to present the Trustees Special Award which is chosen at the discretion of the Trustees for an individual or group who espouse the spirit of Soldiering On through their personal achievements and in particular for their dedicated support for the Armed Forces Community. The award went to The Taylor Family who have dedicated their lives

to supporting the Armed Forces Community and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal all year round. The list of their activities was deemed too long for Vicki to disclose at the ceremony, highlighting their level of commitment.
