ENGLISH SINFONIA
Narration is an integral part of any actors career and a genre in which Vicki has worked on numerous occasions but add a 30 piece orchestra to the mix and the concept becomes a whole new challenge but one in which Vicki rose to great aplomb.
Vicki’s first performance with English Sinfonia saw her narrate Edith Sitwell’s iconic poetry to William Walton’s equally renowned music Façade. Various arrangements of the score have become popular over the years but with the musicians performing the original version at this concert, Vicki determined to stamp her own mark on the piece with conductor John Farrer’s blessing.
Teaming up with classically trained performer Paul Burnham, the final outcome was to produce a unique, sparkling dimension to the work which will long be remembered and which resulted in an immediate invitation for Vicki to rejoin the orchestra this time to narrate and host a concert at the prestigious Cressing Temple Festival in Essex later the same year.
