CHARLES CLARKE OBE
Lunch with Air Commodore Charles Clarke OBE
The RAF Club in the heart if London’s Mayfair was the setting for a special Heritage Foundation Celebration Lunch in honour of Air Commodore Charles Clarke OBE on Sunday the 9th July. In her usual role as host, Vicki led proceedings for the day, which included the screening of archive war footage and introducing the Guest of Honour who recounted many of his wartime experiences
A member of Bomber Command and former prisoner of Stalag Luft III during WWII, Charles was kept captive at a time the ‘great escape’ was being planned and he also took part in the much-documented ‘Long March’ across Germany.
The day was brought to a close with the holding of a charity auction led by Heritage Foundation Patron Barry Fry and the usual fundraising raffle performed by Vicki and co-host John D. Collins.
