Hearing the news that David Croft has passed away has come as such a shock. Not only was he a total comedy genius but a lovely, amazing man who was so instrumental in launching my own career. I have much to thank him for, he was a wonderful teacher. Not only did he write such iconic shows but was involved in every aspect

from producing to directing and casting. Together with Jeremy Lloyd and Jimmy Perry, he was, in my opinion largely responsible for creating The Golden Age of Comedy. My lasting memories of the ten years I worked with him will always be filled with fun and laughter. Never once did I hear him say a cross word, not even when I drove him mad every week asking him for my own catchphrase!
David's legacy will live on in his shows forever and he will always be remembered as the absolute genius he was.
