LOVEPOWER AND PEACE

In the early part of 2011, Vicki was approached by Haven House Hospice in Woodford to help promote a new music compilation album, part of the proceeds of which were to be donated to Haven House. Always keen to help her charities, she readily agreed however, having researched the project, it quickly became apparent of the scale of work behind the production of the album, which prompted Vicki into becoming more involved and also agreeing to help promote the single from the album. The single, also called LovePower and Peace was released prior to the album with all proceeds made being donated to MacMillan Cancer Support.

The man behind the project is rock musician, composer and producer Robin George who initiated the plan over two years ago. Robin originally wrote LovePower and Peace in the 80’s since when numerous high profile artistes have recorded cover versions. As a result, Robin thought it would be great to record it one more time for charity asking some of his colleagues to take part but such was the response from his fellow musicians, that it was decided to turn the single into an album. “What Robin has done is nothing short of amazing”, said Vicki at a recent promotional interview. “The amount of organization behind something of this magnitude is phenomenal and he should be commended on every level. I’m delighted to be able to help in some small way. Every penny of the proceeds is to be divided between four very worthy charities so I urge everyone to go to Robin’s website for details on how to download it”.

The LovePower and Peace recording features over 60 world class musicians including; Ruby Turner, Jaki Graham, Jacqui Williams, Arthur Brown, Daniel Boone, Pete Haycock, John Wetton and artistes from bands such as; Genesis, The Rolling Stones, The Climax Blues Band, Motorhead, Uriah Heep and The Elton John Band. It is a showcase for the many talented performers who have contributed their time and creative skills in making the album a success. The charities benefiting are MacMillan Cancer Support, Haven House Hospice, Woodford, Compton House Hospice, Birmingham and an animal charity yet to be confirmed.

Says Robin, “This has been a real labour of LovePower. All the time and talent poured into this mission has been heart warming to say the least. We are all honoured to be working with such fabulous musicians for such deserving causes”.
