The
Heritage Foundation’s Annual Awards and Summer Ball
took
place at The Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London on
Saturday the 21st
June 2008.
As ever, the evening played host to many high profile
celebrity guests who were present not only to witness the
presentation of the awards but also to help raise funds for the
Foundation’s 2008 chosen cause, the Bomber Command Appeal Fund.
All proceeds were donated for the purpose of erecting a
permanent memorial to those who lost their lives in bombing
raids during World War II.
The
evening began with a champagne reception followed by a three
course gourmet dinner and celebrity auction before the
presentation of the awards, hosted by former President Rick
Wakeman. As in previous years, Vicki joined a number of guest
celebrities to help make the presentations which this year had a
twist in the tail for her.
Following her tribute and
presentation to writer and actor Jeremy Lloyd, Vicki was both
stunned and shocked when Jeremy turned the tables on her and
presented Vicki with the Heritage Foundation Special Gold Award
for Services to The Arts and The Foundation. In accepting the
accolade, a delighted Vicki said she would treat the award as
her Oscar.
Other
recipients on the night included Frank Thornton, Paul Gambaccini,
Douglas Radcliffe MBE, Frank Carson, The Bee Gees, Jade
Gallagher. Vicki was later to present a second award to actor
Jeff Stewart at the Annual Garden Party as he was unable to
attend the official ceremony.
After the presentations, guests
enjoyed entertainment provided by singer Billie Davis and Jet
Harris and The Rapiers.
